
Men's Golf Takes Fourth Place at Herb Wimberly Invitational

Las Cruces, N.M. - After having play suspended late into the second round yesterday, California Baptist University men's golf resumed play this morning and finished in fourth place in the Herb Wimberly Invitational hosted by New Mexico State at the University Golf Course on Tuesday.
CBU was in third place after the first two rounds were completed with a scores of 281 and 286, and followed up with another 286 in the final round for the fourth place finish with a total score of 853. NM State captured the event title with a team score of 832. Seattle U and Weber State tied for second place after posting scores of 852.
Individually, CBU's John Hayes tied for ninth place with a score of 212 (68, 70, 74) for the best finish for the Lancers. Sean Citherlet had the lowest third round score (69) for the team today, and finished tied for 28th overall with a score of 218 (73, 76, 69). Rounding out scoring for CBU was Eeli Kujanpaa tied for 11th at 213 (70, 70, 73), James Mackie tied for 19th at 215 (72, 73, 70) and Chanhee Rye tied for 31st at 219 (71, 73, 75). Luke Bartram competed as an individual, finishing in 49th place with 227 (75, 72, 80).
This event concludes the fall portion of the schedule as the Lancers will not compete again until the Orange County Collegiate hosted by UC Irvine on Feb. 13-14.
