Volleyball Gets Crucial Victory Over Utah Valley; Clinches Spot in WAC Postseason Tournament

RIVERSIDE - California Baptist University secured an important late-season Western Athletic Conference win with a 3-1 defeat of second-place Utah Valley at Van Dyne Gym on Thursday night. With the win, CBU has secured a spot in the upcoming WAC Tournament.
The Lancers, now 11-13 and 6-7 in WAC competition, entered the final week of the regular season with two matches to go, needing to win in order to qualify for postseason. Utah Valley drops to 16-9 overall and 10-3 in league play, and is now tied with Stephen F. Austin in the conference standings. SFA picked up a 3-1 home win against Southern Utah tonight.
CBU closes the regular season against last place Seattle U at Van Dyne Gym on Saturday at noon. The match being the final time at home this season as the Lancers will celebrate Senior Day. The match is also part of CBU's Parent and Family Weekend festivities taking place on campus Nov. 11-12.
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley has secured the regular season conference title and will host the WAC Tournament on Nov. 17-19 at the UTRGV Fieldhouse in Edinburg.

The top eight teams in the WAC standings will advance to the postseason. Tonight's performance has allowed CBU to move up into a three-way tie for sixth place with New Mexico State and Southern Utah. NM State swept 11th-place Tarleton, 3-0, tonight.
