Seniors Honored Ahead of Regular-Season Finale Win over Lamar

RIVERSIDE - California Baptist University women's basketball honored its three seniors ahead of Saturday's regular-season finale, sending off Ane Olaeta, Georgia Dale and Britney Thomas with a huge home win, beating Lamar, 101-76.
CBU closes out the regular season with a 22-7 overall record and a 13-5 Western Athletic Conference record, strong enough to earn the Lancers third place in the final conference standings.
Prior to tipoff, CBU recognized its seniors with a tribute video and on-court recognition with their families at their sides. The Lancers have built a record of 82-35 (70.1 win percentage) since joining the NCAA Division I ranks in the 2018-19 season, with the three seniors contributing to that entire run. These three will have an opportunity to expand that legacy as the three seed in next week's Western Athletic Conference Tournament in Las Vegas.
It was only fitting that Ane Oleata led the way for CBU on Senior Day, recording her fifth double-double of the season by scoring a game-high 20 points and dishing out 13 assists. The reigning WAC Player of the Year finishes the regular season with 210 assists, an average of 7.3 per game. Her total is tied for the second most in Division I this season while her average is good for the outright second spot.
Nicole Avila-Ambrosi matched her career-high of 18 points on 6-8 shooting. Trinity San Antonio had a baker's dozen 13 points, and another monster defensive effort with five steals and a block. Caitlyn Harper put in 12 points and Naomi Yim scored a Lancer career-high of 11 points.
The Lancers came out hot, going 7-7 from the field and 3-3 from distance at the first media timeout to build an early 18-4 lead. The Cardinals would claw back before the close of the period though, but would still trail by seven to the Lancers at the break. The second period saw CBU nearly double up Lamar, 27-14, led by Olaeta's biggest quarter of 12 points.
The second half was where San Antonio did most of her damage alongside Yim, who scored all of her 11 points in 12 minutes of action. CBU would grow its lead to as much as 33 late in the third quarter, never trailing in the contest.
The Lancers posted season highs in field goal percentage, shooting at a 62.7 percent clip in the regular-season finale, as well as breaking the triple digit barrier for the first time this season with 101 points.
