
Lancers Middle Of The Pack After Day One At Bandon Dunes

BANDON --- California Baptist University's men's golf team teed it up at the Bandon Dunes Invitational on Sunday, as the Lancers sit in seventh out of 15 teams.
The 15 teams came from all over the country to take on the famous Bandon Dunes –Sheep Ranch golf course. According to Golf Digest's latest ranking of the top 100 courses, Sheep Ranch came in at No. 80.
No. 9 Kansas went into the clubhouse with a two-stroke lead after firing a 1-under-par 283 team score. The Jayhawks produced the only under-par team score on the day.
Fresno State recorded a 1-over-par 285 team score to sit in second, San Jose State is in third with a 2-over-par 286 team score, No. 30 Oregon is in fourth with a 288 team score, and No. 42 Utah is in fifth with a 291 team score. The Lancers finished their day with a 12-over-par 296 team score and hold a four-stroke lead over the next closest team.
Sean Citherlet led the Lancers on the day, as the freshman signed a 1-over-par 72 to place T-17th. Eeli Kujanpää finished behind Citherlet with a 2-over-par 73 to place T-24th. James Mackie is T-39th with a 4-over-par 75, while John Hayes finished behind Mackie with a 5-over-par 76. Luke Bartram signed a 7-over-par on the day to place T-69th.
There's a four-way tie at the top of the leaderboard as far as individuals go, as Luke Kluver of Kansas, Caleb Shetler of San Jose State, Owen Avrit of Oregon, and Carl Corpus of San Jose State all recorded a 3-under-par 68.
The Lancers will take on the second round on Monday, March 7, with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
