UNIVERSITY PLACE --- California Baptist University's men's golf team placed ninth out of 23 teams at the eighth annual Seattle U Redhawk Invitational on Tuesday.
After Mother Nature forced an early cancelation of Monday's first two rounds, the 23-team field took on an 18-hole shootout to decide the winner. Boise State recorded the top podium finish on the day, shooting a 3-over-par 287 team score to win by five strokes, while Abilene Christian and Seton Hall finished tied for second with an 8-over-par 292 team score.
California Baptist claimed its top-10 finish with a 17-over-par 301 team score to edge Idaho, Western Carolina, Boston College, Delaware, and Cleveland State, who were all knocking on the door to finish inside the top-10. The margin of error was thin on the day, as four strokes separated the Lancers from inside the top-5.
Sean Citherlet and Min Jun Kim led the Lancers on the one and only round, as the duo shot a 3-over-par 74 to place T-15th. Eeli Kujanpää finished T-31st with a 4-over-par 75, while John Hayes carded a 7-over-par 78 to place T-73rd. James Mackie rounded out the lineup at T-103rd with a 10-over-par 81.
Max Charles of Boise State won the individual medalist honors with a 2-under-par 69.
The Lancers will play next at the Sandpiper Invitational on April 11-12 in Goleta, California, at the Sandpiper Golf Club.
