RIVERSIDE – California Baptist University men's soccer Head Coach Coe Michaelson is excited to announce the hiring of his newest assistant coach, welcoming back Josh Glover to the CBU staff. The former Lancer volunteer assistant officially joined the staff on July 11, 2022.
"We are so excited to welcome Josh back into CBU men's soccer. We had some outstanding applicants, but being able to hire someone who we know so well and have worked with before within our program was impossible to pass up", Michaelson said about Glover. He added, "While he is still early in his coaching journey, anyone who has worked with him would agree that there is no level he could reach as a coach that would surprise them. All of our guys who were here with him two seasons ago are ecstatic at his return, and we could not be happier. He will truly move the needle in our desire to win at the highest level while impacting the lives of our student-athletes. Josh is not just the right coach; he is the right person. You would be hard-pressed to find a better fit for CBU and our mission."
Glover, a goalkeeper during his playing days, will be primarily tasked with working with the Lancer shot-stoppers. Glover spent last season with former PacWest and GSAC rival Biola, helping lead the Eagles to their first-ever NCAA Tournament berth. Glover played his college soccer for Westmont College in Santa Barbara, and continued to pursue his passion professionally with stops in England and Orange County.
Rounding out the Lancer staff for the 2022 season is volunteer assistant Tony Huerta. The Riverside native has already built an impressive resume with playing experience at Poly High School and Hope International University before transitioning into coaching at Poly HS, Riverside CC, and Albion Soccer Club.
Michaelson had nothing but great things to say about Huerta, "I've had the opportunity to see Tony as a player at Hope and as a coach here in the Riverside community. As a Riverside native, he is extremely well-connected throughout Southern California and has coached some of the best players in our community, both at Poly High School and with Albion Riverside. I know him to be a great fit for the CBU mission, while he is very hungry to learn and grow. He has already made a positive impact in our program, and I am so excited to have an excellent coach in this role who has a lot to offer, because it is a very challenging position to get right."
