
Lancers Close Out The Nick Watney Invitational

KINGSBURG --- California Baptist University closed out the final round of the Nick Watney Invitational on Tuesday.
Fresno State is playing host to the two-day tournament held at the Kings River Country Club on the par-71, 6,623-yard course.
Long Beach State went wire-to-wire to win the two-day event with a 30-under-par 822 team score. Cal State Fullerton finished second with a 25-under-par 827 team score, while host Fresno State placed third with a 22-under-par 830 team score.
CBU finished the tournament in 15th out of 16 teams with a 26-over-par 878 team score.
James Mackie led the Lancers with a T-37th finish, signing a 2-over-par 72-71-72=215 total. Eeli Kujanpää ended his tournament with a 6-over-par 73-72-74=219 to place T-54th, while Sean Citherlet finished behind his teammate at T-61st with a 7-over-par 73-74-73=220. Luke Bartram placed T-76th with an 11-over-par 224, and Ryan Fisher rounded out the lineup with a 20-over-par 233 to place T-88th. Chanhee Ryu played as an individual for the Lancers, finishing T-71st with a 10-over-par 223.
Ian Gilligan of Long Beach State defeated Harry Doig of Cal State Fullerton in a sudden death playoff on the second hold to claim the individual medalist honors with a 14-under-par 199.
The Lancers will take a small break before taking on the Bill Cullum Invitational on Oct. 10-11 at The Oaks Club at Valencia in Northridge, California.
