SEATTLE --- Former California Baptist University baseball ace pitcher Tyson Miller made his fourth Major League Baseball appearance on Tuesday night, recording the program's first MLB win in the Texas Rangers' 5-0 victory over the Seattle Mariners.
"I could not be more proud and excited for Tyson and his family," said head coach Gary Adcock. Tuesday's inaugural MLB win for a CBU pitcher is a direct reflection of his relentless pursuit of excellence. What a night! I think I speak for his former teammates, coaches, as well as the entire CBU community when I say congratulations! Lance Up!"

Miller was brought into the game in the bottom of the third and made quick work of the inning. He recorded three straight outs with a line out and a pair of groundouts to keep the game scoreless. After allowing a run in the bottom of the fourth, Miller went to work, getting his first strikeout of the night, followed by a line out and another strikeout to end the inning.
Miller produced another three-out inning in the bottom of the fifth and recorded two outs in the bottom of the sixth, with his final out coming with his third strikeout of the night.
He finished his night with 3.2 innings pitched, no earned runs allowed, and three strikeouts to record the Lancers' first MLB win in the program's history.

CBU has a strong track record of success in professional baseball. A total of 23 Lancer pitchers have signed on with MLB teams over the last 18 years under Coach Adcock. In all, the Lancers have produced 32 total MLB signees (25 draft picks, seven free-agent signings) in Adcock's tenure.
Miller and the Rangers will be just down the road this weekend, as the Rangers faceoff against the Anaheim Angels Sept. 30 – Oct. 2.
Miller is no stranger to Angel Stadium, as the Lancers drew the largest crowd ever to witness a live sporting event in the history of the school on April 20, 2016. Miller pitched in front of a record crowd of 7,583 fans in a PacWest thriller between CBU and Point Loma. Miller went on to pitch a complete game to earn the 5-2 victory.
