STOCKTON, CA --- The California Baptist men's golf program headed to Northern California to play in the Visit Stockton Invitational for their third contest of the fall season. The Lancers finished eighth out of seventeen programs, carding their third top-ten finish this year under the direction of TL Brown.
Kurtis Rodriguez had a solid three days out on the course and opened the tournament with a 6-under-par score. Sean Citherlet also began the first day well with an even-par mark. Citherlet continued to improve on the second day and found himself with a 1-under (71) that helped place him in the top 50 golfers. Fred Tindale and Luke Bartram recorded 2-under-par scores on the second day of the tournament, while Eeli Kujanpää ended the afternoon with an even-par mark.
Heading into the final day, Rodriguez righted his sails with a 4-under (68) to close out the tournament tied for 15th out of 99 golfers. This is Rodriguez's third finish in the top 25 and his best final standing of the year. Kujanpaa also carded a final-round tally of 68 as he finished tied for 36th in Stockton. Both Bartram and Tindale ended the third round 1-over par, while Citherlet posted a 2-over (74) to complete the three-day tournament. Citherlet finished tied for 46th, Tindale grabbed a 57th finish, and Bartram tied for 81st.
The Lancers improved each day of the Visit Stockton Invitational as a team and carded an 855 total mark for an eighth-place finish. CBU was ranked in the top 10 for Par 3's, Par 4's, and Par 5's, and for the most part, fared well against a notoriously difficult back-nine hole.
The Lancers will close out their fall season in Honolulu, Hawaii, at the Kapolei Invitational hosted by the University of Hawaii from October 31 through November 2.
