CBU Heads to LA To Take on 12th-Ranked LMU

LOS ANGELES - California Baptist University men's water polo continued West Coast Conference play on Thursday night, playing under the lights at #12 Loyola Marymount. A close first half gave way to the Lions in the second half as LMU took the win 18-11. The result drops the Lancers to 17-16 on the year and 3-2 in the WCC standings, while the win pushes LMU to 16-6 overall and 4-1 in the league.

The first half was tight as the teams were tied 3-3 after the first, with LMU pulling ahead by one at halftime to lead 6-5 at the break. The second half saw the Lions switch their defense to a much more aggressive press, forcing turnovers and fast breaks to quickly build a lead. The Lancers closed the match scoring three unanswered goals before the final horn blew.

Cameron Cullen, Caleb Teraoka, and Logan Puhl scored twice for CBU, with singles coming from Matt Olsen, Alex Righetti, Marcus Lodewyk, Collin White, and Aidan Olson. Trevor Benge played most of the minutes between the pipes, racking up nine saves before William Whitstone relieved him midway through the fourth period.

The Lancers are back home to close out the regular season, treating fans to a doubleheader on Saturday, November 11. The day begins with the final WCC match of the season as #14 San Jose State comes to town for a 1:00 p.m. game. Then it's Senior Night as CBU takes on Cal State Fullerton to wrap up the regular season slate. That game is set to start at 5:00 p.m., but be sure to arrive early to partake in Senior Farewell Ceremonies before the game.
