
Lancers Improve Finish on Final Day of Orange County Collegiate Classic

COTO DE CAZA – California Baptist University men's golf improved their standings by one spot on the final day of competition, closing out the Orange County Collegiate Classic in eighth place (916) out of 10 competing programs.
The Lancers shot a combined +13 (301) in the third round of the tournament to slide past UC Riverside for the eighth spot, as the Highlanders shot a +21 (309) in round three. Cal State Fullerton would take the win with the only under-par score in the tournament, seeing red on Tuesday while shooting their third consecutive negative number, a -4 (284) for a tournament-winning score of -14 (850).
Cal Poly (870) and UC San Diego (880) rounded out the podium for the event, with British Columbia (898), UC Santa Barbara (899), UC Irvine (903), Cal State Fullerton B (909), filling in second through seventh place. Fraser Valley rounded out the tournament with a +70 (934) for tenth place.
Three Lancers finished T27 for the best final score of the tournament for CBU. Eeli Kujanpaa shot a +1 (73) on the final day to jump 10 spots to catch James Mackie and Luke Bartram at +12 (228).
Next up for the men's team is the annual Lancer Joust Tournament, hosted by CBU at Goose Creek Golf Course in Jurupa Valley. Play begins with a 36-hole Monday on Feb. 20, followed by the final 18 holes on Tuesday morning.
