
Lancers Take on Deep Field in Day One of the GCU Invitational

PHOENIX – California Baptist University men's golf team closed out the first two rounds of the Grand Canyon Invitational in a tie for 12th place with a combined score of 589. Texas Christian University leads the field at 18-under par, followed by North Dakota State at 16-under, and Cal State Fullerton at 7-under.
Sean Citherlet posted the day's low round, shooting a 1-under 70 in the first round. He started the round strong, eagling the third hole he played, and finished with two birdies in the final four. He followed that up with another well-played round, shooting even in the second round, overcoming an opening hole double-bogey to birdie three of the next five holes. Citherlet sits in a tie for 15th going into the final round on Tuesday.
James Mackie came in at 6-over after 36 holes, tied for 53rd in the field. Joust champion Eeli Kujanpaa turned in scores of 74 and 75 to finish the day T60 at 4-over par. John Hayes and Ryan Fisher are two of the four players in the tournament tied in 73rd with scores of 9-over par. Luke Bartram closed out the first day tied for 82nd at +12.
One more round will decide the winners on Tuesday morning, with the tee time set for 7:45 a.m.
