BOULDER CITY, NEV. – California Baptist men's golf improved its day two team score by 13 strokes on Saturday, now standing at 7-over (583) after 36 holes, but still with much to do in the final round as the Lancers find themselves in 12th place out of 13 teams. Grand Canyon jumped two spots, and NM State moved up one to share the team lead at the end of day two at 23-under (553). Sam Houston, Friday's end-of-day leader, sits in third at 17-under (559).
Three Lancers shot 1-under (71) on Saturday as John Hayes, the leading Lancer in T20 position, collected his second under-par round of the competition, joined by Luke Bartram and Sean Citherley. Eeli Kujanpaa shot an even 72 in the second round, going 1-under on the front nine with a birdie and eight pars. James Mackie went 2-under in the final nine holes on Saturday, but it wasn't enough to overcome a rocky opening nine as he finished the day at 6-over par (78).
The final round of the Western Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship will start at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, with the Lancers in the opening group alongside Stephen F. Austin.
