
CBU Starts Hot Against SDSU but Can’t Hold Lead Against the Aztecs

SAN DIEGO – California Baptist University women's water polo traveled south to take on 25th-ranked San Diego State on Thursday afternoon, putting up a strong fight in the first half before the Aztecs took over in the second half to take the win 13-6.
The Lancers led 4-2 after the first quarter as Cayleigh Carter, Melinna Galbraith, Maddie Schwegler, and Kyndall Burrell all notched goals for CBU. The Aztecs responded with three-straight goals to open the second quarter and limiting the Lancers to just one in eight minutes.
It was all SDSU in the second half as the Aztecs went on a seven-to-one scoring run to close the contest. Jamie Hutton netted her 55th goal of the season in the second half and added two assists in the first half. She now has 79 total points, ranking third in the GCC.
The Lancers, now 14-17 overall with an 0-6 conference record, will close out the regular season on the road next week. They travel north to take on the Broncos of Santa Clara University at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 13.
