RIVERSIDE - California Baptist University men's soccer opens up a three-game home stand this Saturday, September 2 at 8:00 p.m., welcoming Loyola Marymount University to Riverside as the two sides face off for the first time since 2006.
The Lancers are coming off a tough season-opening road trip where they dropped games to (RV) West Virginia and Michigan. Freshman goalkeeper Dorian Drucks played all 180 minutes between the pipes for CBU, stopping nine shots total in his collegiate debuts.
Fellow freshman Drew Hardin leads the team with two shots on goal, while Alexander Hasenohrl and Luis Mueller have each taken three shots coming into game three of the season.
LMU AT A GLANCE
The two teams already have one common opponent in Michigan, with the Lions opening the season in Ann Arbor with a 1-1 tie. LMU struck first in the 48th minute, with the Wolverines answering 17 minutes later. After that, LMU traveled to Charlottesville, VA, to face #15 ranked Virginia, pulling off the 3-1 upset over the Cavaliers.
The Lions are coming off a 9-6-3 season in 2022, finishing fourth in WCC play. LMU lost both of last year's top scorers, who combined for 30% of the team's offense, but backfilled those holes with a pair of graduate transfers, Ryan Kingsford and Jovan Prado. While at Akron, Kingsford posted 31 points in two seasons, and Prado recorded 20 points in two seasons with Memphis. Each has already made an impact on this young season for Loyola.
