Summit Takes Home WAC Defensive Player of the Week Award

RIVERSIDE--- Taylor Summit earned her first Western Athletic Conference weekly award nod for her solid performance in Northern California last week. The senior was named WAC Defensive Player of the Week after picking up CBU's fourth shutout this season and allowing just one goal before conference play officially begins.
California Baptist opened their week on the road against San Jose State, 2022 NCAA tournament participants, and held the Spartans scoreless through 90 minutes. Summit anchored the backline and allowed just five shots on goal, sealing the Lancer's fourth shutout this season. The senior center-back also battled through a tough match against Sacramento State on Sunday that was riddled with CBU injuries. Summit kept her composure and picked up a 1-1 draw to lift the Lancers to a 5-1-3 record heading into their conference slate.
This award marks the first WAC weekly award for Summit during her CBU career and the third for the women's soccer program this year. CBU will begin conference play this week on Thursday, September 21st, against WAC favorites Utah Valley at 7 p.m. in CBU Soccer Stadium.
