Brooks Named WAC Offensive Player of the Week

RIVERSIDE--- Marcella Brooks earned the Western Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week nod for her phenomenal performance against UTEP on Thursday this past week. This is the first WAC Player of the Week award for Brooks during her career at CBU.
The senior from Las Vegas scored her first goal of the match in the 27th minute after receiving a well-paced ball down the left center of the field and slipped to the back post. Her second of the night came in the 62nd minute after receiving a ball at the top of the 18-yard box, which she spun just out of reach of the UTEP keeper for her second of the evening. Brooks finalized the score not even ten minutes later with a powerful shot from six-yard box chipped over the keeper. The forward finished the week with three goals, six points, and had four shots on goal.
Brooks is now tied in points and as the leading goalscorer for the Lancers. In the WAC, she sits in fourth in goals and points. This is the first weekly award for the Lancers this season, across all sports.
