
Lancers Claim a Complete Team Win Over Tarleton To Open Texas Trip

STEPHENVILLE - Six Lancers scored in double-figures on Thursday night as California Baptist women's basketball took down Tarleton State with ease, 89-59, in Stephenville. The win improves the Lancers' record to 13-1 this year with a 5-0 record in conference, while TSU falls to 4-9 overall and 1-3 in WAC play.
Kinsley Barrington led all Lancers with 15 points while also grabbing eight rebounds. Chloe Webb nearly posted her first career triple-double, falling just two assists shy with a stat line of 11 points, 12 rebounds, and eight dimes. Filipa Barros (14), Khloe Lemon (12), Emily Sewell (12), and Anaiyah Tu'ua (11) also scored in double-figures, with freshman Sydney White nearly breaking the mark as well, but still posting a new career-high with nine points.
The team shot over 40% from the field tonight for the ninth time this season and recorded a new season-best free throw line percentage, shooting 93.3% from the line (14-15). The Lancers also set a new high-water mark from distance, attempting 41 three-pointers, making another season-best mark, 15. Overall, CBU played a solid game through and through, posting a 24/11 or 2.18 assist-to-turnover ratio, the second-best mark of the season.
The Lancers fell behind quickly, allowing the Texans a six-point lead to start the game, but countered strongly by scoring nine unanswered in response. The Lancers would blow the game open with a 19-0 run spanning from 2:45 in the first period to 7:51 in the second. Barros paced the Lancers in the first half with 12 points on 4-7 shooting from distance.
The third quarter saw the Lancers improve already good shooting as CBU scored 25 points on 43.8% shooting from the field and a perfect 7-7 from the free throw line. The Lancers would build their largest lead of the game at the 8:24 mark of the fourth quarter with a 75-44 scoreline.
CBU will now head an hour and a half east to face Abilene Christian on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats enter the game 6-7 (2-2) after suffering a nine-point loss to Grand Canyon on Thursday night.
