CBU Set to Begin Season in Maryland at The Navy Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, MD --- The California Baptist men's golf team is set to begin their 2024-2025 campaign on Saturday morning as they travel across the country to participate in The Navy Invitational. The Lancers will compete in nine events this year, with four in the fall and five in the spring.
Head Coach TL Brown returned five Lancers and welcomed five new golfers to the program. Established Eeli Kujanpää, Sean Citherlet, Kurtis Rodriguez, Henri Nishwaki, and Ka'ena Kaulia have all made their way back to CBU. Kujanpaa won his first tournament individually after taking first place at The Joust during his sophomore season and will be looking to add another this year as a senior. Citherlet, Rodriguez, Kaulia, and Nishiwaki are also strong returners and will bring experience to the stacked squad. Joining the Lancers this season are Bryden Brown, Jared Abercrombie, Derek Lekkerkerk, Andy Yang, and Lorenzo Lombardozzi. Abercrombie enters his freshman season after an incredible summer where he was named the 2024 Toyota Tour Cup Max Homa Invitational Champion. Yang also picked up a tournament win this summer after dominating the PNW Junior PGA Championship, qualifying him for Nationals at the Congressional Country Club. Lekkerkerk and Brown competed at the 122nd Men's Amateur, where Lekkerkerk finished in the semifinals and Brown ended as runner-up.
Beginning on the East Coast in Maryland, the Lancers will leave The Navy Invitational and return to California for The Stockton Invitation before wrapping up the fall at the Saint Mary's Invitational and the HCU Husky Intercollegiate. CBU will kick off the spring season in Mexico at the Vaqueros Intercollegiate at the beginning of February and will then participate in the Desert Intercollegiate in Palm Desert, California, hosted by Wyoming. The Lancers will then compete at the GCU Invitational and the Triton Invitational before ending the regular season competition at the El Macero Classic. The 2025 WAC Men's Golf Championship will be held from Friday, April 25, through Sunday, April 27, at the Golf Club at Chaparral Pines in Payson, Arizona.
Starting at the Navy Invitational will be a good test for a new team under Coach Brown. Kujanpaa, Citherlet, Lekkerkerk, Abercrombie, and Lombardozzi will all make their 2024-2025 season debut in Maryland. Livestats can be followed here.
