RIVERSIDE --- California Baptist softball is being recognized by the WAC for the sixth week in a row, as this around its infielder Ashlee Annett earning WAC Player of the Week. Annett had three multi-hit games while batting over .500 last week.
Annett is the second CBU player to be named WAC Player of the Year, joining Makayla Medellin, who won the award last week. Pitchers Miranda De Nava (twice), Emily Darwin, and Annika Hollingsworth were named WAC Pitcher of the Week to start the season.
The Lancers played five times last week and finished 3-2, including a series victory against North Dakota State.
Annett finished 8-for-15 (.533) last week, adding a double, triple, and five RBI. The senior infielder saw her batting average jump 50 points, moving her to .286 through 30 games. Annett is second on the Lancers with 23 RBI.
Her best game came in CBU's first game of the week, a 9-1 win on the road against UC San Diego. Annett went 3-for-3 with a triple and four RBI. She came back the next day against San Diego State and finished 2-for-2.
Annett added her third multi-hit game of the week in Saturday's series finale against North Dakota State. Annett went 2-for-5 and finished the series 3-for-10 with a walk and a double.
The Lancers are 22-10 and have completed their final non-conference week of the season. Next for CBU is the start of the WAC schedule on Friday when the Lancers visit Southern Utah in Cedar City for a three-game set.
CBU returns to John C. Funk Stadium next week to play UC Santa Barbara before welcoming Utah Valley to Riverside.
