THIS YEAR: A rising talent in the GSAC, Vanessa Wilt is one of the top returning post players in the league ... Improved with each game last year and is expected to have a major impact on the inside ... Is surrounded by quality players who will help alleviate some pressure ... Will be a central figure in the offense, giving the Lancers an ability to play inside-out ... Has great hands, good footwork, long arms and an ability to run the floor ... Understands how to play the post and loves to bang on the inside.
2004: Appeared in all 33 games, starting 18 as a true freshman ... Led the team and was 13th in the GSAC in scoring (12.8 avg.) and was ninth in the GSAC in rebounding (7.3 avg.) ... Was seventh in the GSAC in blocked shots (0.85 avg.) and 13th in field goal percentage (.501) ... Started the final 11 games of the season, averaging 15.5 points and 7.9 rebounds ... Scored in double-figures 22 times and reached the 20-point mark 6 times ... Had 6 double-doubles ... Scored a season-high 25 points in the Lancers’ GSAC Tournament game vs. Vanguard ... Had 13 points and 11 rebounds vs. Hope International and followed that up with 24 points and 16 rebounds vs. Christian Heritage ... Scored 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the Lancers’ regular-season finale vs. Biola ... Had 12 points and 10 rebounds in the Lancers’ season-opener vs. Bethany.
HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped 3 varsity seasons for head coach Dean Serbus at Sultana High in Hesperia, Calif., graduating in 2004 ... Named Mojave River League MVP as a senior after averaging 16 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 blocks per game ... Named all-county first team as a senior ... Named All-Mojave River League first team as junior and second team as a sophomore ... Averaged a double-double for her career and had 8 career triple-doubles ... Set 12 school records, including career points (809) and rebounds (845) ... Also played volleyball for 2 seasons and earned all-league honors.
