THIS YEAR: A late addition to the team as a 2006 senior, Newkirk decided to finish out what has been a standout career at the semester break ... In her first 3 seasons, Newkirk became the second-best 3-point shooter in school history in terms of shots attempted (357) and shots made (127) ... A threat beyond the arc ... Has great court sense and knowledge of the game ... Provides excellent leadership as a returning veteran ... Will need to rediscover her shot as a mid-season addition.
2005: Had her role re-defined as a 2005 junior, starting just 8 times, but playing in 32 of 33 games ... Posted 8.0 points, 2.1 assists, and 2.0 rebounds ... Averaged 22.1 minutes per night, the second-most of her collegiate career ... Nailed 51 3-pointers, second on the team, as the Lancers set a school single-season record with 218 buckets from beyond the arc ... Had team-highs in scoring 5 times, including a career-high 22 points against Westmont (2/17) ... Led the team in scoring in 3 of 4 contests from 2/5 to 2/17.
2004: Saw extended time at shooting guard again as a 2004 sophomore ... Averaged 6.7 points, 2.2 assists and 2.1 rebounds ... Played in all 28 games, starting the final 23, and averaged 20.0 minutes per contest ... Second on team in 3-pointers made (37) ... Led team in scoring 4 times ... Scored double-figures 8 times ... Had a career-high 18 points in a win over Point Loma Nazarene (1/24), including several key several key field goals in the final minute ... Scored the game-winning basket with 14 seconds left in a 56-55 win against Mayville State (12/19) ... Had 13 points and a career-high 7 rebounds at La Sierra (1/15) ... Made at least one 3-pointer in 19 games and at least 2 in 11 contests.
2003: Earned starting spot for much of the seaosn as a 2003 freshman ... Averaged 5.8 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists ... Led team with 39 3-pointers made, good for tenth-best in school single-season history ... Shot 35.5 % on 3-pointers ... Made at least one 3-pointer in 23 of 32 games ... One of only 3 Lancers to play in all 32 games ... Started 20 times and averaged 24.8 minutes per game ... Reached double-digits in scoring 9 times ... Scored a season-high 14 points, hitting 4-of-5 threes, in season finale at Point Loma Nazarene (3/6).
HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Riverside Poly High School in 2002 ... Played 4 years of varsity basketball ... Made All-Ivy League first team as a senior when she averaged 14.5 points ...
