THIS YEAR: A 3-year starter, senior Linsey Smolskis is a well-rounded athlete who nailed down the libero role last year ... Proved to be one of the top liberos in the GSAC ... Holds the school-record with 152 service aces, and needs just 338 digs to become the record-holder in that category (she currently has 1,285) ... Needs just 58 games to tie the school record of 413 games played ... Can also hit and set.
2004: One of only 5 players to return after a cataclysmic 2003 season ... Named NAIA and GSAC Libero of the Week (10/18) ... Played in a team-high 142 of 145 games ... Played in 41 of 42 matches ... Had school-record 31 digs vs. Concordia (11/19) ... Also set the school record with 29 digs in a 3-game match vs. Westmont (9/18) ... Smashed former school record by more than 100 with 667 digs ... Also set CBU record with 4.70 digs per game ... Set personal-high with 52 service aces.
2003: Did a solid job playing where she was needed, primarily at setter but also at opposite as a sophomore ... Collected a team-best 652 assists (6.65 per game) ... As a hitter, earned 133 kills (1.36 per game) ... Was steady serving (50 aces, 0.51 per game) and on defense (299 digs, 3.05 per game) ... Her 0.51 aces per game tied for eighth in school single-season history ... Notched a then-school-record 29 digs vs. Embry-Riddle (10/25) ... Had double-figures in assists 24 times, in digs 17 times and in kills 3 times ... Had a season-high 45 assists at Hope International (9/13).
2002: Showed her versatility as a freshman, playing both opposite and backup setter ... Had 114 kills (0.99 per game) ... Notched 227 assists (1.97 per game) ... Also recorded 50 service aces (0.43 per game), 319 digs (2.77 per game) and 39 blocks ... Reached double-figures in assists 6 times, including a career-high 51 vs. Westmont (11/8) ... Reached double-figures in digs 19 times, including a season-high 20 against Notre Dame de Namur (9/7) ... Had a career-high 8 blocks vs. St. Thomas (8/30).
HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Cerritos (Calif.) High in 2002 ... Played 4 years of varsity volleyball for head coach Sue Garrison and was the Suburban League MVP as a senior ... Also played 2 years of softball ... Softball team won CIF championship her junior year.
CLUB: Played for Cal Juniors and Ichiban ... Placed fourth at the Junior Olympics with Cal Juniors.
