CEDAR CITY, Utah --- NCAA Division I Southern Utah scored a pair of goals in a 38 second span late in the first half Saturday and made them stand in a 2-0 non-conference win over California Baptist.

The win is the first of the season for Southern Utah (1-4), which downed the Lancers, 4-0, last year. It is the first loss of the year for the NAIA's No. 18-ranked Lancers, who fall to 4-1.

The Thunderbirds out-shot the Lancers, 17-7, but held a 10-1 advantage in the first half when all the scoring was done. Shaley Ipson scored the game's first goal at the 36:35 mark and then did it again at the 37:13 mark.

They were the first goals allowed this year by CBU, a scoreless streak that spanned for 421 minutes. All-GSAC Heather Andrews made 4 saves as did back-up Emily Evanson as the pair split time in goal.
