RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Coming off a 2005 season where she scored just one goal and battled an injury throughout the year, Sarai Stamper continued to improve on last year's performance with a pair of goals and an assist Wednesday night.
Stamper found the net off a pass from Alyssa Turner in the game's eighth minute to give the Lancers all the fire-power they needed, as the NAIA's No. 17-ranked squad improved its record to 6-1 with the, 4-0, win.
The Lancers bumped up the lead to a pair of goals when Vanessa Wellman sunk a penalty kick in the 14th minute. Stamper tucked away her second goal in the 23rd minute from a Jacalyn van den Raadt assist, and then assisted Saundra O'Connor in the 83rd minute for O'Connor's first goal at the collegiate level.
2005 All-GSAC selection Heather Andrews went almost completely untested throughout the match. The sophomore keeper did not make a save as La Sierra managed only 2 shots throughout the game. Neither shot was on target, as California Baptist ripped 27 shot altogether, including 18 on-frame.
Eagles keeper Jillian Bennett was credited for 14 saves throughout the contest.
