RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Kaitlin Berg netted 3 goals, as Cal State San Bernardino handed California Baptist a disappointing 6-5 loss on the final day of the year for the Lancers.
Following senior day festivities, California Baptist (21-11) was unable to tuck away a goal until over a minute into the second quarter, failing to capitalize on a scoreless quarter from the Coyotes notched their first-ever win against the Lancers in 6 total meetings between the 2 teams. The 'Yotes improve to 21-15 with the win.
Corrie Stuursma's goal with 6:37 remaining in the second quarter broke a stalemate to start the game, but the 'Yotes answered with 2 goals in a row, and ended the second quarter with a 3-2 lead after Kaitlin Hartman scored with just under 3 minutes remaining in the half.
Unanswered goals by Berg and Hartman in the third quarter buried the Lancers at 5-2, but Kasey Weaver scored from the cage to make the deficit 2, at 3-5, to end the third quarter. Stephanie Glendenning scored with 5:16 remaining in the fourth period, but Berg's third qoal of the game made the score 6-4 ahead of Julie Hale's goal with 1:06 on the clock to make the final score 6-5.
