RIVERSIDE, Calif. ? Brittany Baurer scored three goals in the fourth quarter to seal the deal in a 13-7 win against Chapman, Saturday.
The win marks the seventh straight for the Lancers (11-5) and the sixth straight over the Panthers (3-2)
After a close 3-2 first quarter, the Lancers went on a 3-0 run in the second quarter to secure a comfortable lead.
CBU had nine different players with goals. Baurer led the way with four total in the contest while Cydney Owen scored a pair of goals as well. Corrie Stuursma, Whitney Shaw, Julie Snodgrass, Collette Brown, Kylie Chevalier, Ashleigh Wheeler, and Melissa Shepardson all ripped single goals in the contest.
“Our girls played good defense and dictated where we wanted the ball to go,” said CBU head coach Jacob Medina. “We are starting to put together a string of wins and have kept scoring spread out between many of our players. It was also nice to be able to play our bench.”
The Lancers scored three goals in each the first two quarters to take a 6-2 lead at the half. The Panthers rallied in the third quarter scoring two, but Snodgrass and Brown both scored a goal at the end of the quarter from the outside to keep the four-goal lead at 8-4 heading into the fourth quarter.
It was in the fourth that the Lancers got behind Bauer's hat trick while Shepardson and Shaw helped closed the door.
The Lancers try to keep the win streak going with a busy schedule in the upcoming week. CBU plays host to Concordia, Monday at 3:00 p.m., and Iona, Thursday at 3:00 p.m., before hosting the second Lancer Invite of the year.
