TRITONS HOLD OFF LANCERS

SAN DIEGO, Calif. ? A late flurry of goals for California Baptist was not enough as the Lancers fell, 6-4, to No. 16 UC San Deigo.
The Lancers (23-12) scored all four goals in the second half with the final three coming in the last 1:36 of the game. The Tritons opened the game with a 4-0 run scoring two goals each in the first and second quarters. UCSD added another goal to open the third before Ashleigh Wheeler put the Lancers on the board with 6:27 left in the third.
The Tritons made it 6-1 with a goal midway through the fourth before CBU scored three straight goals in just over a minute. Chelsea Gentry scored with 1:36 left making it 6-2 just before Wheeler scored her second goal of the game with 57 seconds left. Collette Brown made it 6-4 just 17 seconds later with a goal with 30 seconds left. That was the last goal the Lancers scored.
California Baptist will now close out the season with the inaugural Women's Water Polo National Invitational Friday and Saturday.
