RIVERSIDE, Calif. ? California Baptist University pulled of its third win in a row with a 10-3 win over Siena Wednesday afternoon.
Camryn Rogers shutout the Saints in the second and third quarters after allowing two goals in the opening quarter. The freshman posted nine saves for the Lancers (8-6), six of which came in the third.
Ashleigh Rood and Jennifer Grutz each netted a hat trick while Chelsea Gentry, Tiffany Strickland, Kylie Chevalier and Collette Brown each scored single goals.
Grutz put CBU on top a little over a minute into the game, but the Saints answered with a 6-on-5 goal to tie at 1-1. Rood netted her first goal of the game on a 6-on-5 before Strickland made it 3-1 with 3:31 left in the first. Siena made it 3-2 at the end of the first, but the Lancers answered with a 3-0 second quarter.
Chevalier scored the first goal in the second before Rood scored two consecutive goals to give CBU a 6-2 lead at the half. The Lancers increased the run to seven straight goals as Gentry, Brown and Grutz all netted goals in the third and Grutz opened the fourth with a goal to put CBU up 10-2. The Saints scored their final goal with 1:34 left to play.
The Lancers were 1-for-3 on 6-on-5 opportunities while they held the Saints to just 1-for-6.
CBU will host Claremont Mudd-Scripps, Saturday, for a noon contest.
