The Lancers started scoring early, putting up three goals in the first quarter. The potent offense did not slow as they piled on another four goals in the second period, three of them belonging to freshman Alyssa Birch, to take a 7-0 lead into halftime.
Coming into the second half, the Lancers stretched their lead to 8-0, before the Eagles managed a score. CBU entered the final period with an 8-1 advantage. CUI netted two more goals before CBU tacked on another pair of its own, closing the door on the Eagles.
Petra Kovacs led the Lancers in the scoring column with four goals, while Birch added three.
"It was a good game," said head coach Jacob Medina. "I was glad to be able to get lots of girls in the game, and really get our outside shooting going."
Medina and the Lancers will travel to Irvine, Calif., for their next contest on Saturday. The game against UC Irvine is scheduled for 6 p.m.
