CBU matched their biggest win of the season with the nine-point victory over the Saints. The Lancers scored early and often in the first quarter, taking a 6-2 lead by the end of the period. By the halfway mark of the second period, CBU had stretched its lead to 6 goals, 8-2. Over the final four minutes of the half, the Lancers and the Saints each netted one more score, giving CBU a 9-3 halftime advantage.
The Lancers opened the second half of the game by holding the Saints scoreless, while they piled on three more scores, taking a 12-3 lead into the fourth quarter. Then, just 18 seconds into the final period, CBU stretched its lead to 10, 13-3, the biggest of the game. Over the final minutes of the contest, Siena pushed back, to pull within eight, 13-5, at the 5:38-mark, before the Lancers shut the door, taking the nine-point win.
"It was nice to be at home," said head coach Jacob Medina. "We were able to get a good lead early and get everyone some playing time."
Jennifer Grutz led all scorers in the game, posting a hat trick in the win. Kim Latschaw, Petra Kovacs and Collette Brown each netted a pair of goals for the Lancers.
The Lancers play again Thursday at Fresno Pacific, with the game beginning at 6 p.m.
