ST. GEORGE, Utah --- Kylee Nicassio scored twice, Lindsay Vesling had a goal and an assist, and California Baptist University used a quick strike attack to blow past Dixie State, 4-1, in a Pacific West Conference game Saturday.
The win is the Lancers' third in a row as they move their unbeaten streak to eight straight while improving to 8-1-1 overall, 4-0-1 PacWest.
The Red Storm falls to 3-6, 1-3.
Nicassio scored twice just 24 seconds apart in the fourth and fifth minutes to give the Lancers a quick 2-0 lead. She now has eight goals this year, giving her 42 career goals to move within six of the program record.
After Dixie State cut the deficit in half and got into halftime down just 2-1, the Lancers blew the game open with a pair of goals just 52 seconds apart early in the second half to put the game on ice.
The Red Storm actually out-shot the Lancers, 15-13, but couldn't overcome the Lancers' efficiency.
"We made a little harder on ourselves than we needed to in the first half, but the girls did a good job playing through it," said CBU Head Coach Kristen St. Clair. "It's always challenging to play on the road, but we made some adjustments at halftime to get a good result on the road."
Nicassio's first strike was assisted by Fabiola Zanella da Silva and was hit into the upper right corner from 15 yards out. Just seconds later, she got loose a breakaway and hit a ball over Dixie State keeper Abby Johnson to give the Lancers a two-goal advantage.
The Red Storm cut the deficit in half with a goal by Mindi Beckstrom in the 14th minute.
Out of the intermission, Amanda Lammers scored in the 62nd minute chipping a ball she got from Vesling over Johnson, and 52 seconds later Vesling headed in a corner kick from Kimberly Allard.
Nicoline Jorgensen and Rosie Nakata combined to make eight saves in goal.
