RIVERSIDE – California Baptist women's soccer returns home this week to open a five-game homestand, hosting Portland State on Thursday and UNLV on Sunday at CBU Soccer Stadium. Both matches are scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Lancers enter the week following a hard-fought 0-0 draw at California in their season opener. CBU nearly broke through in the closing minutes, creating multiple dangerous opportunities, but ultimately settled for the scoreless result against the Golden Bears.
CBU's defense provided a strong start to the season, led by graduate goalkeeper Mikayla O'Brien and graduate Taylor Held on the backline. Junior Ava Lopez also provided an experienced presence for a Lancer defense that kept California off the scoreboard for the full 90 minutes.
The two home matches begin a five-game homestand for the Lancers, who will look to take advantage of a familiar setting and strong home support over the next several weeks.
CBU Soccer Stadium has provided the Lancers with a significant home-field advantage since opening ahead of the 2022 season. Now in its fifth season, CBU has compiled a 23-7-7 record at the facility. Two victories this week would give the Lancers their 25th home win at CBU Soccer Stadium.
