BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--- Camryn Rogers had a bittersweet Saturday in the cage. The junior opened the day by breaking California Baptist's all-time saves record, unfortunately the mark came in the Lancers' second straight loss to No. 16 Hartwick.
She followed that up by helping CBU cruise to a 17-3 victory over Pomona Pitzer and a 3-1 finish at the Roadrunner Invitational.
In the opener the Lancers (21-11) fell to No. 16 Hartwick for the second time this season. Christina Webb had three goals while Morgan Barrows and Kim Latschaw each scored once.
Petra Kovas racked up five steals and posted a goal, but the story of the game was Rogers.
The junior entered today with 900 career saves (tied with Kasey Weaver for the school's all-time record) and took little time to grab the crown becoming the lone record holder for the program's career saves mark (916).
She posted 10 saves in the loss to Hartwick and then added six in the win over Pomona Pitzer.
Rogers has been a dominant force in the cage since she began starting in her first collegiate season.
As a freshman in 2009 Rogers crushed Weaver's singe-season saves record (295) with an astonishing 370 stops. She followed that up with her second straight 300-save season and broke the career steals mark of 96 earlier this year.
She paces the team with 39 steals, and is the only CBU polo player with 100+ career steals (109).
Rogers leads the nation in saves (247) and has helped lead the Lancers to a 21-11 record in what has been the school's most difficult schedule in program history.
In game two of the day Rogers started, but played in limited time to finish with six saves. The Lancers got hat tricks from three players (Kovacs, 5; Latschaw, 4; Webb, 3) to notch the team's 14th win over Pomona Pitzer in 15 tries.
Five other CBU players scored in the match, while Brittany Bateman registered three assists. Kristen Post finished with four saves off the bench.
The Lancers have just four games left until they host the NAIA Invitational.
