Fourth Quarter Take Down

CBU used balanced scoring, as six different Lancers scored.
"The girls played great," Head Coach Jacob Medina said. "Having six players score was a big factor. We needed everybody to contribute."
Laura Kocsis scored the winning and only goal of the fourth quarter with 5:16 remaining in the contest before CBU played perfect defense to close out the game. With no ejections committed by either team, CSUN had limited opportunities to force the tie, allowing the Lancers to record their 19th win of the season and 14th in the last 15 games.
Goalkeeper Camyrn Rogers tallied her second straight game of 12 or more saves, recording 13 and four steals.
"Camryn had an unbelievable game in the goal," Head Coach Jacob Medina said.
After the Matadors got on the score board first, Molly Gritchen answered with a goal at 3:17. Less than two minutes later, in the final seconds of a Lancer 6-on-5 opportunity, Tania Acavedo gave CBU its first lead at 1:21. A goal from CSUN with 15 remaining seconds tied the score at the end of eight minutes, in the second of five forced ties in the match.
Petra Kovacs, with yet another hat-trick, scored her first 44 seconds into the second. Christina (Webb) Young scored her first of two at 5:23 to push CBU's lead to 4-2 and tie for the biggest lead of the game.
CSUN then scored three unanswered to take back the one goal lead at halftime.
Two goals from Kovacs and one from Mallory Montano started the third quarter, for the final lead change, as CBU went up 7-5 by the 4:41 mark.
"Mallory earned four ejections and did great in the interior," Medina said.
Young scored her second at 3:19 but the Matadors managed to force a tied to end the third before Kocsis' fourth quarter heroics.
Facing their fourth ranked opponent of the weekend, the Lancers take-on UC Santa Barbara at 6:30 p.m.
