REDLANDS, Calif. --- Once again freshman two-meter Hannah Evans stole the show for California Baptist University on Saturday. Evans led all scorers with six goals, including four in the final quarter.
Her six goals led the Lancers to a six goal victory as they defeated the Redlands Bulldogs 14-6.
“We were able to pull away in the fourth quarter with Hannah (Evans) leading the charge,” said Head Coach Jacob Medina.
Up until the fourth quarter, the game was actually fairly close, as Redlands forced the Lancers to slow down and play at their pace.
The Bulldogs also did a good job of not giving CBU many 6-on-5 chances, only committing seven exclusions, compared to the Lancers' 11.
“Redlands did a good job of slowing the game down and forcing us into a half tank game for most of the contest,” said Medina.
Raine Paul added three goals for CBU, and Samantha Banks had two. Three others put one in the back of the cage for the Lancers.
Moana Tuipulotu and Jill Stein led the Bulldogs with three goals each.
Leticia Perez and Meghan Rowland split the time in the cage for the Lancers, holding the Redlands offense to just over 2 goals per quarter.
The six goals give Evans 61 goals on the year as she continues her impressive rookie campaign.
The win moves CBU to an even 16-16 as the Bulldogs fell to 8-15.
The Lancers have a short two-week break until they take on No. 4 UCLA in Westwood, Calif. on April 13.
