RIVERSIDE, Calif. — For the first time in program history, California Baptist University's women's and men's basketball teams will be featured on ESPN 3. The Lancers' matchup against Fresno Pacific on Saturday was picked as an NCAA Division II Game of the Week doubleheader.
Each year, the NCAA Division II selects a certain amount of games to be featured as the Game of the Week, with 18 regular season men's and women's basketball games making the cut this year. The January 9 matchups will air on ESPN3 as one of nine doubleheaders, with the women tipping off at 5:00 p.m. and the men following at 7:00 p.m. ESPN3 is ESPN's live multi-screen sports network, a destination that delivers thousands of exclusive sports events annually.
Both of CBU's hoops teams sit in the NCAA Division II Top-10 rankings for the second time this year.
The No. 4-ranked women open the two-game feature with a 5:00 p.m. tipoff. The game can be streamed on the WatchESPN app, streamed on televisions through Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, or at http://es.pn/1JV5il6.
CBU's women are on a five-game winning streak after most recently defeating two Hawaii schools, Hawaii-Hilo and Chaminade. The Lancers stand 12-1 overall and 4-1 in the PacWest Conference.
On the men's side, the 10th-ranked Lancers sit second in the conference, standing 13-2 overall and 4-1 in the PacWest. CBU comes into Saturday's matchup with four wins in tow, out-scoring its opponents by an average of 29.5 points.
The men's game is slated for a 7:00 p.m. tipoff and can be streamed on the same applications as listed for the women, as well as online at http://es.pn/1OJmgu4.
The network is currently available to more than 99 million homes at no additional cost to fans who receive their high-speed Internet connection or video subscription from an affiliated-service provider. The network is also available at no cost to approximately 21 million U.S. college students and U.S.-based military personnel via computers, smartphones and tablets connected to on-campus educational and on-base military broadband and Wi-Fi networks.
