RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Domination was in full effect Friday afternoon as California Baptist University defeated Fresno Pacific University 14-3.
It keeps the 21st-ranked Lancers undefeated in Golden Coast Conference play at 19-7, 3-0 in conference, as they are in the hunt for a high seed at the ever-important conference tournament.
"Defensive has been the key to the last few games, holding them to three goals is nice and to be able to score as much as we did was excellent, even as we rotated our squad," Coach
Jon Miller said. "That was a good performance top to bottom, every game is a must-win in conference."
Hannah Evans and Samantha Banks scored three goals each, while Laura Kocsis and Valerie Spezzaferri each added two goals. Four other Lancers collected goals to solidify the home win.
Goalkeeper Meghan Rowland came up big in the cage, with 11 crucial saves that allowed the offense to build up the lead.
On top of the conference standing, the Lancers still maintain a 7-0 undefeated record at home for the 2016 season. That will be put to the test Saturday, as CBU hosts 12th-ranked University of Pacific at noon.
"Each game is it's own thing, it's hard to take from one game to another because of matchups and the way different teams play," Miller said, "but the Pacific game will be another tough matchup, as are most of the games in the Golden Coast Conference."
