DAVIS, Calif. -- California Baptist University will have played each of the top-four ranked teams in the NCAA just three weeks into its season by Saturday. Fourth-ranked Pacific was up for the Lancers, who are dealing with their fair share of injuries, Friday at UC Davis.
CBU saved its best for last against the Tigers in a 20-9 loss, outscoring Pacific 6-2 in the fourth quarter. Dominick Nevarez and Brent Teraoka each scored two goals in the game, with Nevarez adding an assist to his resume. Thomas Henline scored a goal and assisted on another, while Teddy Forte chipped in a goal and a steal.
Joseph Moorman posted nine saves and three steals in the cage for the 16th-ranked Lancers. Ryan Sargis, Kyle Rasmussen and Caleb Rogers each scored in the game, as well.
The Lancers continue play Saturday at UC Davis' Aggie Roundup. They start out against third-ranked Cal at 7 a.m. and then take on No. 17 San Jose State at 11 a.m.
