CBU Shows Up Big in Saturday Split

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — It was a split Saturday for California Baptist University's swim and dive teams, as the divers opened at home at the Lancer Dive Invite and the swimmers wrapped up at the Malibu Invite.
Melody Coleman put together one of the top performances of the day when she posted the fastest 200-yard butterfly time of all competitors at Pepperdine's NCAA Division I-III Malibu Invite, with a first-place time of two minutes, 11.24 seconds. It was better than all the D I-III swimmers in attendance.
Several other Lancers logged impressive performances and topped its Division II opponents. Coleman won the D-II 100 breast in 1:07.81, while Alex Wolf had the second best time (1:08.84).
Emily Longfellow won the 100 individual medley (1:00.26) and 50 back (27.43), while Andrea Laliena finished second in the 50 back (27.58). The two switched places in the 100 and 200 backstrokes, with Laliena winning the 100 (59.57) and 200 (2:09.15), while Longfellow took second in 59.69 and 2:10.02, respectively. Christie Halverson (2:10.05) and Netali Bar (2:10.28) followed in third and fourth in the 200 back.
Anna Peter won both the 50 (27.18) and 100 butterflies (1:00.26), with Coleman also taking runner-up in the 100 fly (1:01.06). Wolf (2:26.03), Robin Smallwood (2:26.48) and Coleman (2:29.53) went first through third in the 200 breast, as well.
Smallwood also won the 50 breast (30.98), while Hannah Parson claimed the 50 free (25.23) Mackenzie Mergel captured the 200 free title (1:55.99), as well, whileHalverson took second in both the 50 (25.27) and 200 frees (1:56.12).
Grace Oeser, Longfellow, Mergel and Taylor Dowden teamed up for one final victory in the 300-freestyle relay (2:31.69) for the Lancers.
Back in Riverside, the Lancer divers made their home debuts. Emily Dunkerson posted the best finish of the day for CBU when she took third on the 1-meter board with 215.35 points, while Millie Moro (211.65) and Janae Jizmejian (210.20) finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Savannah Uhlir also finished seventh in the event (193.85). Dunkerson took top honors again for CBU on the 3-meter board (203.45), while Jizmejian came in eighth (191.65), Moro in ninth (183.20) and Uhlir in 10th (176.80).
