RIVERSIDE, Calif. – For the fourth year in a row, cross-town foes California Baptist University and UC Riverside will face off in a scrimmage on Friday. The Lancers will host the game at Totman Stadium at 5 p.m.
It will give Riverside baseball fans a sneak peak of what is to come for both teams in 2018. CBU Coach Gary Adcock got his start coaching as an assistant at UCR in 1996 and is now preparing for his 15th season with the Lancers.
Â
The Highlanders are beginning their fourth season under head coach, former California/Anaheim Angel and World Series champion Troy Percival.
CBU is coming off a 2017 season in which they went 35-18, 25-11 in the PacWest to qualify for the NCAA Division II postseason for the fourth year in a row. This will be the Lancers' final season in D-II, as they will transition to Division I and the Western Athletic Conference in 2019.
Score will not be recorded during the CBU and UC Riverside scrimmage. The two teams last met in the regular season in 1999.
