CBU Improves At Shootout

RESULTS
VALLEJO, Calif. – California Baptist University maintained its ninth-place standing in the final round and a half of the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout at the Hiddenbrooke Golf Course on Tuesday.
Ninth-ranked Colorado-Colorado Springs won the event with an 870, while No. 13 Cal State Monterey Bay and St. Edward's tied for second place with 873s. CBU improved in each round this week, with a 315 to start, 299 in the second round and 293 over the final 18 holes for a 907 total.
Ben Hallam led the Lancers with a 12th-place finish by shooting two-under-par 70 in the third and final round. It gave him a two-over 218 total after shooting 74-74-70 in all three rounds. Colorado Springs' Colin Prater won the individual title with a 209 total.
Greg Gonzalez took 28th individually for CBU with a 224 (75-74-75) after a consistent performance. Ryan Monsalve logged one of the best rounds of the week in Tuesday's third round by carding a four-under-par 68 with four birdies and an eagle over 18 holes. It put Monsalve in 56th place with the 68 tying for the third-best individual score of the week.
Jack Solis was the Lancers' fourth and final scorer in the first and second rounds with a 242 (82-80-80). Ivan Monsalve competed as an individual for CBU and improved by six strokes from round two to three for a 237 (81-81-75).
CBU next hosts the Lancer Joust at Goose Creek Golf Club in Jurupa Valley, Calif., March 19-20. The Lancers have secured top-three finishes at their home event the last two years, winning the title in 2016 and taking third in 2017.
