RIVERSIDE, Calif. — After an impressive junior year, California Baptist University's Hannah Thieroff picked up not one, but three All-American honors.
After picking up Division II Collegiate Commissioners Association's All-West Region first-team honors, Thieroff was put on the national ballot and the Sports Information Directors of NCAA Division II voted her to receive first-team recognition. The Mission Viejo, Calif. native also grabbed National Fastpitch Coaches Association second-team recognition, as voted on by softball coaches, as well as the first team by Fastpitch News.
Thieroff was named the West Region Player of the Year earlier this month after helping CBU finish the year with a 35-12 record and fifth-straight NCAA Division II postseason appearance, including an appearance in the regional finale for the third time in five years.
The Mission Viejo, Calif. native boasted a .425 batting average and a .874 slugging percentage to finish the year. She ranked in multiple categories in NCAA Division II heading into the postseason, including 29th in DII with a .445 batting average, eighth in home runs (16), ninth in slugging percentage (.924), 34th in RBIs (52), 14th in RBIs per game (1.21), and sixth in home runs per game (.37), and 17th in on-base percentage (.531). She was named the 2018 PacWest Player of the Year, to the NFCA All-West Region first team and a finalist for the 2018 Schutt Sports/NFCA Division II National Player of the Year.
Ciara Stapp also grabbed D2CCA All-American Honorable Mention recognition after she finished her sophomore campaign with a 1.30 ERA, ranking in the top-20 of D-II. She helped CBU boast the fourth-best team ERA in D-II, while also sitting 14th with 10 shutouts on the year and 12th in the division with 4.44 hits allowed per seven innings. Stapp ended the year with a 19-9 record in the circle and 129 strikeouts.
