THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – A balanced attack led California Baptist University to an 11-6 win over La Verne to start the Tina Finali Invite at Cal Lutheran's Samuelson Aquatics Center.
Katie Fugit, Lizette Perez and Kira O'Donell all scored two goals each, while four other Lancers scored a goal each. CBU improves to 6-7 on the year and the Leopards fall to 0-2. The Lancers wrap up the Tina Finali Invite against Sonoma State and Fresno Pacific Saturday at 9:15 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., respectively.
CBU scored four of the first five goals of the game for a 4-1 lead eight-and-a-half minutes in, thanks to goals from Pua Wong, Perez, Hutton and Meza. The Lancers stretched their lead to six, 9-3, with 1:30 left in the third quarter on goals from Hutton, Katie Quon and Meza.
O'Donell would also score before the game was over to secure the five-goal win for the Lancers.
