RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Angel Delgado was named the Western Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday after he helped California Baptist University go 5-0 last week.
Delgado is just one of two starting pitchers in the WAC who have not allowed an earned run with strikeouts and two walks in 12 innings pitched. He becomes the first Lancer to earn a weekly WAC award as a result.
In CBU's 4-1 victory over Ohio Saturday, Delgado earned his second win of the season. The senior allowed just one unearned run on hits, with six strikeouts and no walks. He helped keep the Lancers an undefeated 9-0 and become the first team in NCAA Division I to reach nine wins this year.
CBU plays three games against cross-town opponent UC Riverside this weekend. The Highlanders host the opener and finale on Friday and Sunday at 6 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively, with the Lancers hosting the middle game at Totman Stadium Saturday at 4 p.m.
