AZUSA, Calif. – After scoring her first hat trick last week, true freshman Jamie Hutton erupted for a double hat trick (six goals) in California Baptist University's final game of the regular season.
It wasn't enough for the 25th-ranked Lancers to knock off No. 24 Azusa Pacific on the Cougars' Senior Day on Thursday. APU won 11-9, which secured the sixth seed for CBU at the Golden Coast Conference Championships next week. The Cougars are in the middle of a banner season with four top-25 wins, including an upset win over No. 14 Wagner.
Thursday was the third time this season a Lancer has scored six goals in a game, as Hutton joined the club with Lizette Perez and Katie Fugit. Perez scored six against Harvard and Fugit had hers against Concordia.

The Lancers were answered back with the first goal of the second half, as Lizette Perez turned her defender and scored from up close to make it 8-6. Hutton's fourth goal kept it a two-score game (9-7) going into the final quarter, and her fifth narrowed the deficit to one with 6:35 left in regulation.

CBU finishes the regular season with a 14-16, 2-5 in conference record, and APU improves to 17-13, 4-3. The Lancers will have to wait and see how Santa Clara's final conference game at Pacific plays out on Saturday to determine if it will seeded sixth or seventh for the GCC Championships next week at Fresno State. CBU owns the head-to-head tiebreaker over Santa Clara after defeating the Broncos 8-6 back on March 8th.
