RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- California Baptist University's women's soccer completed the perfect weekend on Sunday, as the Lancers bested the Vandals from the University of Idaho, 2-0.
"Idaho is a better team than what its record shows," said head coach Kristen St. Clair. "This was a good result, and we're getting better every game. I thought our attack created some dynamic and dangerous scoring opportunities. Defensively, we showed good discipline. It was nice to see the players rewarded for their work."
With the win, the Lancers improve to 5-2-1 and move their win streak to two in a row, while the Vandals fall to 2-6-0 on the season.
The Lancers wasted no time making their presence known in the opening minutes, as Karley Weeks and Rola Badawiya fired off back-to-back shots.

That aggressive style of play opened up passing lanes for the Lancers, as they were able to gain control of possession and tempo for most of the first half.
Weeks continued to pour shots towards the box, as the sophomore rattled off five shots in the first 25 minutes of play. Weeks would end the game with a career-high 10 shots on the day.
CBU had its breakthrough moment with nine minutes left in the first half, as Vanessa Evans checked into the game, and immediately found Ari Coronado on the far side. Coronado did well to shake her defender and hit a fabulous strike over the keeper's head.

The Lancers went into the break with a 1-0 lead. CBU outshot Idaho in the first 45 minutes, 14-3. This marked the third game this season the Lancers have put up double-digit shots in the first half (Southern Utah, Incarnate Word).
Coming out of the break, Idaho was able to push into the Lancers' backline, but Erin Gallagher and company held their ground. In fact, the Lancers' backline only allowed two shots on goal out of the Vandals' nine on the day.
Amy Aquino provided the security blanket for the Lancers at the 60th minute after Badawiya and Weeks tag-teamed for the double assist. It all started with an Idaho goal kick, as Badawiya gained control and tapped it over to Weeks, who then found Aquino for the second goal of the game.

Coronado and Aquino each recorded their third goal of the season, which is tied for the most on the team.
"The season is a marathon, not a sprint, which requires consistent execution and performances, individually and collectively every game," St. Clair added. "I believe we made good strides and matured well as a team this weekend. We will enjoy the win and rest up before going back to work this week to prepare for Cal Poly."
The Lancers will look to keep the momentum going, as they continue their homestand with a match against Cal Poly on Sunday, Sept. 22, at 1 p.m.
