
Lancers Land #2 Prospect From Australia

RIVERSIDE --- California Baptist University head men's basketball Coach Rick Croy announced the signing of Taran Armstrong, the No. 2 prospect out of Australia ranked by DraftExpress, to join the Lancers for the 2021-22 season.
The NCAA D-I signing period for basketball starts on Nov. 11 and runs through Nov. 18.
Armstrong, a 6-5 point guard from Tasmania, Australia, comes to CBU after spending the 2020 year as a member of the Tasmanian U20 State Team. He has competed for his country on multiple occasions and helped lead Australia to a Gold Medal at the 2019 FIBA Oceania Tournament. The last name should be no stranger to Lancer fans, as he will join his brother Tre Armstrong on the team, marking the first Lancer siblings on the men's basketball team in the Croy era.

About Armstrong:

Armstrong was the leading scorer at the Basketball Australia U20 National Championships, leading Tasmania to a Bronze Medal while averaging 25.6 points per game, 6.1 rebounds per game, 3.7 assists per game, and shooting 44 percent from the field. He was a scholarship holder at the prestigious NBA Academy in Australia from 2018-19 before becoming a scholarship recipient at the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence in Canberra, Australia. The Centre of Excellence has been home to several NBA players, including NBA Champions Patty Mills and Matthew Dellavedova.
He has been invited to several prominent tournaments during his basketball career, including, The NBA Global Camp, NBA Basketball without Borders, and the G-League Showcase.
