RIVERSIDE - The Western Athletic Conference Board of Directors voted on Tuesday to cancel all WAC competition and championships through the end of the academic year, including spring sports that compete beyond the athletic year. This follows the earlier decision to suspend all WAC competition until further notice and the decision by the NCAA to cancel all remaining winter and spring NCAA Championships.
In addition, the originally scheduled competitions and championships for all 21 programs at California Baptist University, regardless of conference affiliation, are canceled for the remainder of the 2019-20 athletic year.
Other athletics activities, including team and individual practices, meetings and other organized gatherings, whether required or voluntary, are also canceled through April 30, in alignment with the closure of CBU's campus as currently directed by the Riverside County Public Health office as related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
CBU will continue to provide their student-athletes with care and support to meet needs in areas including academics, medical care, mental health and wellness, nutrition and housing as needed.
California Baptist University will continue to communicate with public health officials and medical experts to determine the best path forward.
Announcements and updates made by the institution are available here. Updates related to athletics are also available at www.cbulancers.com/coronavirus.
