For the second game in a row, the Lancers were one big hit away from forcing a tie or coming away with a win, as the Wolf Pack pulled out a 6-4 win on Saturday at Don Weir Field. Castillo, Spohn and Caballero all had two hits on the day, as the Lancers matched UNR with 10 hits overall.

Russell Stevenson also hit his first home run as a Lancer on Friday, but CBU still moves to 6-7 on the year, while Nevada improves to 2-10. The Lancers will look to force a series split in the finale on Sunday at noon.
Saturday was a back-and-forth game, with one tie and two lead changes. Nevada scored first with a run in the bottom of the first, but the Lancers took a 2-1 lead with a pair of runs coming on four hits in the top of the second inning.
Spohn and David Martin started the inning with singles, and they came around to score on RBI singles from John Glenn and Kyle Oyama.

The Wolf Pack answered back and grabbed a 3-2 lead with a two-run single in the third, and then took a two-run lead with a solo homer in the sixth. Stevenson's solo bomb came in the seventh to make a it a one-run game again, 4-3.

A two-out rally led Nevada to two more runs and a 6-3 cushion in the bottom of the seventh. A pair of singles and walks – all with two outs – did the damage. The Lancers had another response in the eighth.
Castillo was walked to start the inning and then back-to-back singles from Caballero and Spohn loaded the bases with one out. A wild pitch scored Castillo and kept two runners in scoring position, but consecutive strikeouts got the Wolf Pack out of danger without further damage.
Chris Burica overcame a rocky start to throw six innings for the Lancers, as he retired five of the last seven batters he faced. He gave up four runs on eight hits and two walks, but held Nevada to just four hits and no walks over the last four innings.
